What an AI readiness audit actually covers
Most "AI strategy" engagements skip the least glamorous step: actually understanding the business before touching it. An AI readiness audit is that step. It's a map, not a pitch — and it's the difference between automating a real bottleneck and automating a demo.
Here's the ground we walk.
1. How the business runs today
We follow the work end to end. How do leads come in — calls, forms, referrals, DMs? What happens to a purchase order? Who touches billing, HR, and scheduling, and in what order? The goal is a plain-language map of the actual workflow, not the org chart version of it.
2. A department-by-department review
For each function — sales, ops, finance, support — we ask three questions:
- What repetitive work eats the most hours?
- Where do things fall through the cracks?
- Who owns it today, and what would break if they were out for a week?
That last question surfaces the knowledge trapped in one person's head — usually the single highest-leverage thing to systematize.
3. The tech stack and how it connects
Salesforce, Gmail, Slack, QuickBooks, a booking tool, three spreadsheets. We catalog every system, then look at what actually talks to what. The gaps between tools — the copy-paste seams — are where agents earn their keep.
4. Data quality
An agent is only as good as the data under it. How clean are the records? How many duplicates? Is anything structured, or is it all free text in an inbox? We flag what needs cleanup before automation, because automating on top of messy data just makes mistakes faster.
5. A cost analysis
Finally, the part owners care about: what is each opportunity worth? We estimate the hours and dollars a given automation could save, then rank every opportunity by return and effort. You leave with a prioritized list — not a vague sense that "AI could help."
What you walk away with
